All Your Questions On Portable Staging Systems Answered

Q: How do I calculate how many portable stage modules I need?

A: ExpressDeck stages are 4’x4’’.

A: AlphaDeck stages are 4’x4’ or 2’x4’.
You can use any combination of stages to achieve your surface area.  Measure the width and length of the space you have reserved for the stage and calculate based on the sizes of the stages. We recommend drawing a diagram to visually illustrate how many stages and which size stages you require. Or, contact one of our staging specialists for assistance.

Q: How much weight can the portable stages hold?

A: ExpressDeck's weight load per square foot of staging is 185 pounds (a 4’ x 4’ deck can support 2,960 lbs), meaning that it can support the weight of many large machines, vehicles, equipment, foot traffic, tables, chairs and more.

A: AlphaDeck's weight load per square foot of staging is 160 pounds (a 4’ x 4’ deck can support 2,560 lbs), meaning that it can support the weight of many large machines, vehicles, equipment, foot traffic, tables, chairs and more.

Q: How do you assemble the modular staging systems on uneven surfaces?

A: ExpressDeck should be assembled on pre-levelled ground surfaces.

A: AlphaDeck stages can be set on any surface, due to the easy leveling system in place.  If there is an area that requires the leg to be extended or shortened, you have the option of adjusting the height of each individual leg to compensate for an uneven surface by simply adjusting the position of the cotter pin.

Q: How do the portable staging modules lock together?

A: The ExpressDeck staging system locks together with a simple hex key. Riser legs unfold and snap into the platformand are then locked at the corners with a turn of the hex key. Assembled decks are then locked together using the same hex key mechanism hidden along the sides of the platforms.

A:The AlphaDeck staging system easily locks together with a simple-to-use cam lock system. The locks are located on all four sides and are engaged using a T-handle hex wrench. See install instructions for modular staging for complete information.

Q: What is the weight capacity of the portable staging?

A: ExpressDeck staging can bear weights up to 185 lbs/sq ft, allowing each 4’x4’ module to hold up to 2960 pounds.

A: AlphaDeck staging can bear weights up to 160 lbs/sq ft, allowing each 4’x4’ module to hold up to 2560 pounds.

Q: Are the portable staging wood decks slippery? (AlphaDeck only)

A: No, the AlphaDeck wood decks are not slippery.  The decks are coated with a polyurethane finish, but are purposely designed for walking, standing and all kinds of performances. The wood decks can even be used for dancing. Furthermore, the decks do not scuff or scratch easily and will maintain their high-gloss finish for a long time.

Q: How high can I adjust the modular staging systems?

A:  ExpressDeck standard heights are 8", 16", 24", and 32". Choose the riser with the appropriate height for your application. Ask your representative about coupling hardware that enables the stacking of riser legs.

A: AlphaDeck standard heights range from 4” to 48” in height.  We can customize a deck for heights exceeding 48” upon request.  When speaking with a customer care representative , let them know your intended stage heights so they can ensure you are delivered the appropriate sized legs for your needs and, if necessary, support cross-bars.
